ISLAMABAD: At least 15 militants were killed today when Pakistani military jets pounded their hideouts in aerial strikes in the country’s restive northwestern tribal region.
“15 terrorists were killed today in precise aerial strikes,” Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement today.
The latest attacks targeted the militants in North Waziristan district where an operation launched in mid-June is still in progress.
Separately eight bodies of militants, who were killed during aerial strikes yesterday, were recovered by the political authorities of Orakzai agency in Shireen Darra area of lower Orakzai agency.
The bodies have been shifted to Levy Centre Shakas in Khyber Agency for identification.
North Waziristan was considered a stronghold of militants before an operation to flush out militants from the area was launched.
Army says it had killed over 1,200 militants in the operation. (AGENCIES)
