150 BSF jawans, families treated on IB in heart camp

JAMMU, Feb 15: A Heart Diseases Awareness Camp was today organised at SHQ, BSF, Indreshwar Nagar, Jammu close to the International Border (IB) in which 150 jawans and their families were examined and treated.
The camp was organised under the supervision of Dr Sushil K Sharma, Head, Department of Cardiology, Government Medical College, Jammu along with a team of doctors which consisted of Dr Arjun Singh Chib, Dr Mohi Kalsotra, Dr Dineshwar Kapoor along with paramedics including Nadeem Bhatt and Mohim Thakur with social volunteers comprising Gourav Sharma, Lokash Manni and Neeraj Sharma.
In the camp, the patients were given benefits of diagnostic tests like ECG, biochemistry and free medicines. Further, the patients were given advice for undergoing advanced tests like echocardiography, holter monitoring and coronary angiography so that their cardiac problems can be attended objectively.
In addition, Dr Sushil Sharma highlighted the role of social and medical support to Armed forces who are guarding the fronts of country and keeping the people secure. All individuals of Army who are staying away from the families and in very difficult conditions are doing everything possible to guard this country deserve all possible support from the society and public, he said.
Dr Sharma stressed upon the preventive aspect of cardiac diseases. In this regard, he advised the people in general to adapt a healthy life style which includes regular walk and physical activity and shun smoking. “Obesity is another factor for which people should be aware because it is a precursor for large number of diseases itself and get screened for diabetes, blood pressure and lipids levels,’’ he added.
The President of BWWA Deepshikha Gurung and Rajesh Gurung (DIG), Dr KS Kumar (Commandant) and Dr Rinchen (SMO) were also present on the occasion.
