150 students of Wildlife painting competition honoured

JAMMU, Nov 10: About 150 winning students of Wildlife Painting Competition J&K 2024 were honored today at Jambu Zoo.
In Senior Category, Vismay Nagaraj of APS Nagrota , was the winner while Siya Sharma of APS BD Bari and Shardh S Yadav got 2nd and 3rd Positions. 1200 students from 55 schools of J&K participated in this UT level competition.
The award ceremony programme was jointly organized by J&K Wildlife Protection Department ( Jambu Zoo) and The Himalayan Avian, an organisation working in the field of birds & environment.
PCCF (Wildlife), Chief Wildlife Warden J&K Sarvesh Rai was the chief guest of this programme while Regional Warden Jyotshna presided over.
The chief guest congratulated all the winning students and said that J&K UT has rich wildlife diversity. He called upon students for spreading awareness among the masses about Wildlife Conservation. PCCF (Wildlife) Sarvesh Rai , appreciated Himalayan Avian for organising such types of Painting competitions concerned with wildlife . Regional Warden Jyotshna was impressed to see heavy participation of students in Wildlife Painting competition and said that it is a sign of increasing awareness among students toward wildlife.
During the welcome speech, Guldev Raj, who is also Member of J&K Wildlife Board, disclosed that the series of Wildlife painting competition started in 2014, with few students and this year they had a huge participation.
On the occasion, social worker Darshan Mehra, Goutam Singh, Anil Attri Deputy Director Jambu Zoo, Warden Jammu Vijay Kumar, Rishi Pal and Prof Ashok Kumar also presented . Anil Attri Deputy Director Jambu Zoo presented vote of thanks.
