DEHRADUN, Dec 3: DIT University held its 2nd Convocation ceremony wherein Chief Minister of Uttarakhand Trivendra Singh Rawat, who was chief guest on the occasion, awarded degrees and Medals to the students while Dr Dhan Singh Rawat, Minister of Higher Education, Government of Uttarakhand, was the guest of honour.
1530 students were awarded degrees in B Tech, B Arch, B Pharma, M Tech, MCA, M Pharma and MBA. This year DIT University awarded 11 Ph D degrees alongwith 16 Gold Medals.
Students and their parents from different parts of the country flocked in, at the DIT University campus for collecting their awards and degrees. A total of 11 doctoral degrees where given away while 1309 Undergraduate degrees and 136 Postgraduate degrees were conferred at the ceremony. Six Post Graduates and 68 Undergraduates of last year were also awarded degrees on the occasion.
DIT University graduates pledged to uphold the noble cause of environmental protection and the need to maintain equity, ecological security and the wealth of global natural resources. Students also pledged to uphold the honour of their Alma Mater.
The convocation was also attended by Mayor of Dehradun, Sunil Uniyal Gamma, many prominent personalities, parents of students and members of statutory bodies of the DIT University.
Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat along with Dhan Singh Rawat, Minister Higher Education, released the convocation souvenir.
Vice Chancellor, Dr K K Raina presented the University report and described the 2nd Convocation as another milestone in the history of any institution. He hoped that the students would utilize their knowledge and fulfill their responsibility in a way that will bring success to them and pride to their Alma Mater.
Anuj Aggarwal, Chairman, Board of Governor, DIT University, presented mementos to the dignitaries.
Dr Devadesh Sharma, Registrar, DIT University, announced that a total of 1530 degrees were being award in the convocation. The closing ceremony was called in by N Ravi Shanker, Chancellor, DIT University.
The convocation ceremony was followed by the annual DIT University alumni meet.
