UDHAMPUR, Apr 4: In its continued efforts, Udhampur Police today foiled several attempts of bovine smuggling and rescued 155 bovine animals besides arresting 14 smugglers.
Reports said that under the overall supervision of SSP Udhampur, Dr Vinod Kumar, Police rescued 80 bovines from seven smugglers in Chenani while 47 bovines were rescued from four smuggler in Tikri and 28 others from three smugglers at Jakhani.
During routine checking, a team of Police Station Chenani, led by SHO S D Singh under the supervision of SDPO Chenani Sheikh Tahir Amin, noticed few persons travelling along with bovine animals from Udhampur towards Kashmir Valley.
As it was found that these persons had no valid permission, Police rescued all the 80 bovines and arrested the alleged smugglers, who were identified as Liaqat Ali, son of Abdul Rashid, resident of Jhajjar Kotli, Jammu; Ghulam Jalani, son of Gujjar Din of Dansal, Jammu; Mukhtyar Ali, son of Nazir Ahmed of Dansal, Jammu; Talib Hussain, son of Junaid, resident of Dansal, Jammu; Shabir Ali, son of Abdul Rashid of Jhajjar Kotli; Nazir Hussain, son of Sraf Din of Nagulta, Chenani and Farid Ahmed, son of Mohd Hussain, resident of Bain, Chenani.
In this regard, case FIR numbers 59/2023, 60/2023, 61/2023 under relevant sections of law have been registered in PS Chenani and further investigation is going on.
In another success, Police party of PS Udhampur, led by SHO Raghubir Singh, under the supervision of Dy SP Headquarters Gurmeet Singh, intercepted three vehicles at Jakhani. During checking, these vehicles were founded loaded with 28 bovines in a very cruel manner and that too without any valid permission for the transportation.
The police team rescued all the bovines and arrested the accused, identified as Shafqat Ali, son of Nusrat Ali, resident of Kokernag, Anantnag; Liaqat Ali, son of Mirza Ali, resident of Anantnag and Zaffar Ali, son of Juneed , resident of Rajbagh, Hiranagar, Kathua.
In this regards case FIR numbers 173/174 and 177 of 2023, under section 188 IPC, 11 PCA Act have been registered at Police Station Udhampur.
Foiling four attempts of bovine smuggling in Tikri area, team of Police Post Tikri, led by Incharge PP Tikri and SHO Rehambal Rajesh Sharma, under the supervision of DySP Hqrs Gurmeet Singh, rescued 47 bovine animals from four smugglers, who were arrested on the spot.
The accused were identified as Mohd. Mushtaq, son of Mohd Rafiq, resident of Panj Grain, Jammu; Mohd Yasin, son of Najir Ahmed of Nagrota Jammu; Junaid Ali, son of Reham Ali of Chak, Samba and Qutub Din, son of Jamal Din of Nagrota, Jammu. In this regards, case FIR number 83/84/ 86 and 87 of 2023, under section 188 IPC, 11 PCA Act were registered at Police Station Rehambal.
