Srinagar, Oct 23: The Indian Dental Association (IDA) J&K State branch hosted the 15th IDA J&K Dental Conference from October 19-22 at various venues.
On the first day, pre-conference scientific sessions took place at Government Dental College and Hospital Srinagar, featuring hands-on workshops.
Dr. Summit Goel from Delhi led sessions on implantology, while Dr. Ashiq Ali conducted a workshop on oral punch biopsy.
Dr. Altaf Malik discussed basic life support. Dr. Hysum Mushtaq, Chairman of the pre-conference, opened the session, and Dr. Nusrat awarded certificates and medals to students and speakers.
On October 21, Dr. Farooq Abdullah inaugurated the main conference at SKICC Srinagar.
Among the distinguished guests were Dr. Ashok Dhoble, Secretary General of the Indian Dental Association, who served as the guest of honor alongside Justice Hussain Masoodi, MLA Pampore.
Dr. Farooq presented momentos to guests and committee members for their efforts in organizing the event. During his speech, Dr. Farooq highlighted the importance of dentistry for the public and commended dental surgeons working in remote areas. He advocated for quality patient care in every corner of the UT. Dr. Dhoble emphasized the need for oral health screening camps in remote areas to educate the public about oral health, essential for overall well-being.
Justice Hussain Masoodi addressed unemployment issues affecting the dental fraternity and assured the doctors he would raise this at the administrative level to fill vacant posts.
Dr. H. U. Malik, conference chairman, welcomed guests and delegates, while Dr. Hilal, IDA J&K State president, delivered the presidential address.
Dr. Abdul Latif Mattoo, Organizing Secretary of the conference, expressed gratitude to all participants.
The valedictory session concluded at Gulmarg Club on Tuesday, with delegates enjoying the stunning beauty of Gulmarg.
