UDHAMPUR, Dec 19: Police today foiled an attempt of bovine smuggling and rescued 16 animals besides arresting the accused.
Reports said that a police party of PS Udhampur, led by SHO, Insp Vijay Singh Choudhary, under the supervision of Dr Rohit Chadgal, DySP Hqrs. Udhampur, laid a naka at Jakheni NHW and intercepted two vehicles bearing registration numbers JK08F- 6295 and JK19- 3730.
During search, 16 bovine animals were found illegally loaded in both the vehicles. While driver of one vehicle managed to escape, the other driver was arrest on the spot. He was identified as Sajjad Ahmed, son of Sadiq Ahmed of Gangera, Udhampur.
In this connection, cases under relevant Section of law have been registered at PS Udhampur and further investigation is underway.
