16 bovines rescued, one smuggler nabbed

SAMBA, May 12: Samba Police foiled three bovine smuggling attempts by rescuing 16 bovine animals and arresting two smugglers.
“A team of Police Station Ghagwal during vehicle checking at Naka Tapyal, intercepted two vehicles bearing registration numbers HR51AF-8099 and JK11E-6667 while checking found two bovines tied in a cruel manner in each vehicle which were being transported illegally without any valid permission,” a police spokesman said.
He said in this connection, two separate FIRs viz. FIR Number 65/2024 U/S 188 IPC, 11 PCA Act and FIR Number 66/2024 U/S 188 IPC, 11 PCA Act have been registered at Police Station Ghagwal and investigation started.
Likewise, a team of Police Post Mansar successfully foiled bovine smuggling attempt by arresting a bovine smuggler and rescuing 12 bovines which were being smuggled by foot via Mansar-Surinsar road. All the rescued bovines were shifted to safer place. The arrested bovine smuggler was identified as Channa son of Mohd Rayaz of Goran (Samba).
A case FIR Number 138/2024 U/S 188 IPC was registered in this connection at Police Station Samba and investigation started.
