SAMBA, May 31: District police Samba has successfully foiled attempt to smuggle bovines in the jurisdiction of Police Station Ghagwal by rescuing 16 bovines during a naka on NHW at Tapyal today.
As per reports police party of Police Station, Ghagwal during vehicle checking naka at NHW Tapyal, signalled a truck bearing Registration No PBO2BN-9885 coming from Punjab towards Srinagar to stop. On enquiry, driver of the truck produced the bills of essential commodities being transported in the truck before the police party. But when asked for checking the truck, he accelerated the speed of the vehicle and tried to fled away from the spot. When chased by police party, the driver abandoned the truck at a few metres distance away from Naka point and managed to escape.
During checking of the vehicle, 16 bovines were found laden inside the vehicle without any permission. All the bovines were rescued and shifted to safer place. The vehicle used for transporting the bovines was seized on spot.
In this regard, a case FIR No. 50/2020 U/S 188 IPC, 11 PCA Act stands registered at P/S Ghagwal and investigation started.
It is pertinent to mention here that the bovine smugglers are adopting new modus operandi for smuggling their bovines on the pretext of transporting essential commodities during the ongoing lockdown period.
