KATHUA, June 7: Sixteen labourers were injured, three of them including a pregnant woman and a child seriously, when a truck hit a load carrier on Jammu-Pathankot National Highway at Logate Morh, Kathua.
As per sources, a speeding truck bearing registration number PB06AU-5137 this morning hit a Mahindra load carrier (registration number JK08D-8649) which was carrying labourers, at Logate Morh when the driver of the truck lost control over the steering. The truck driver abandoned the vehicle and fled the scene after the accident.
In the mishap, the load carrier was badly damaged and 16 labourers travelling in the vehicle got injured, three of them including a pregnant woman and a child grievously. All the injured were shifted to Government Medical College and Hospital Kathua for medical treatment.
The injured persons were identified as Rajani Devi (20), Raj Kumar (25), Bal Ram (23), Hansika (2 years), Mansi (3 years), Babli (18), Kali Ram (25), Koushal Patel (29), Sharida (35), Ishwari (25), Anand Yadav (25), Shri Ram (30), Anjora (25), Jansika (2 years), Pooja (35), Danishwar (3 years) and Baldev (40).
Kathua Police had registered a case in this connection and started investigation.
