17 bovine animals rescued, 2 smugglers held

UDHAMPUR, Apr 1: Police today foiled an attempt of bovine smuggling and rescued 17 animals, which were packed behind the cement bags loaded in a truck.
Police also arrested three bovine smugglers and seized the truck, which was on way to Kashmir.
According to reports,   a police party  led by SHO Udhampur Mahesh Sharma  intercepted a truck bearing registration number  JK05C-1004 near Jakhani. During  thorough search of the truck, police  noticed some activity behind the cement bags, which were loaded in the vehicle. After a few  bags of cement were unloaded,  17 bovine animals were found tightly packed in the cavity created in the truck. Police immediately rescued the animals and arrested the smugglers, who were identified as Bilal Ahmed of  Rafiabad, Baramulla,  Amin Farooq of  Baramulla and Riaz Ahmed of  Krimchi.
In this connection, a case under Section 188/RPC, 3 PCA Act has been registered at Police Station Udhampur.
