17 bovine animals rescued, 3 smugglers arrested

UDHAMPUR, Mar 5: Police today foiled two separate attempts of bovine smuggling and rescued 17 animals besides arresting two smugglers, here in Udhampur and Kud.
Acting on reliable information, a Police Party from Police Station Rehambal, laid a surprise naka on the National Highway near Flata and intercepted a truck bearing registration number JK02AR-2845, which was on way towards Srinagar.
During thorough search, the vehicle was found loaded with 12 bovine animals, which were rescued while Police also arrested the bovine smuggler, namely Mohd Abraq Ali (driver) of Tral, Rajori.
In a similar success, a Police party from Police Station Kud laid a surprise naka on the National Highway near Kud and intercepted a Mahindra 207 vehicle, bearing registration number JK03E-0677, which was on its way towards Kashmir. During the search, the vehicle was found loaded with five bovine animals. Police rescued the animals and seized the vehicle besides arresting two bovine smugglers, namely Imtyaz Ahmed (driver) of Anantnag Kashmir and Shokat Ahmed of Kota Anantnag Kashmir.
