17 bovine animals rescued, smuggler arrested

UDHAMPUR, July 27: Police foiled an attempt of bovine smuggling in Majalta and rescued 17 bovines besides arresting the alleged smuggler near Police check post Battal.
According to the reports, a truck bearing registration number JK08C-3879, coming from Ramkot side and going towards Kashmir, was stopped for checking at PCP Battal by a Police team, headed by SHO Majalta Inspector Kesar Singh and assisted by PSI Garuv Slathia.
During checking the truck was found loaded with 17 bovine animals without any permission. Police rescued the bovines and arrested driver of the truck, identified as Imtiyaz Ahmed, son of Faqir Hussain of Madina, Tehsil Surankote, Distt Poonch.
A case has been registered in this connection at Police Station Majalta and further investigation is in progress.
