UDHAMPUR, July 16: Udhampur Police today seized 17 kg poppy straw from a truck and also arrested driver of the vehicle, which was on way from Kashmir to Punjab.
A Police team, led by SHO Chenani, intercepted a truck bearing registration number. PB35Q-9237 at Chenani Naka and subjected it to thorough search. During search, police party recovered 17 Kg poppy straw from the possession of the driver Waryam Singh, son of Fouja Singh of Sarna Pathankot Punjab, who was transporting the contraband from Kashmir Valley towards Punjab.
In this connection, a case FIR No 93 under section 8/15 NDPS Act was registered in Police Station Chenani. The accused was arrested and the vehicle was seized. Further investigation of the case is going on.
