UDHAMPUR, June 25: Udhampur Police today arrested two narcotic smugglers near Jakhani and recovered 18.88 kg poppy straw from their possession.

According to the police report, a naka checking team of Police Station Udhampur, led by SHO Raghubir Singh, intercepted a car bearing Registration number JK20A-1201 with two persons on board.
During search, 18.88 kg of poppy straw was recovered from the vehicle following which its driver and his associate were arrested on the spot. Police also seized the vehicle and registered a case FIR under NDPS Act in this regard in Police Station Udhampur.
The arrested accused were identified as Rashid Mohd (driver), son of Galshan, resident of Sundrani, Udhampur and co-driver Riyaz Ahmed, son of Mohd Iqbal of Aishmuqam, Anantnag.
