18 bovine animals rescued

RAJOURI, July 17: Police today foiled three separate attempts of bovine smuggling in Rajouri rescuing eighteen animals even as smugglers managed to escape in all the cases.
In its official statement, police said that a team headed by SHO Manjakote Pankaj Sharma was on routine patrolling in Beryani Gali area near LoC when some smugglers were seen moving suspiciously. On seeing the police party, the accused fled from the spot.
Ten bovines being smuggled were rescued on the spot while manhunt has been launched to nab the smugglers believed to be two in number whereas a case FIR 118/20 under relevant sections of law has been registered in this connection at Police Station Manjakote.
Meanwhile, a Police team from Thanamandi, headed by SHO Fareed Ahmed also foiled an attempt of bovine smuggling and rescued six animals even as the smugglers managed to flee from the spot.
Similarly, a police naka party of Rajouri Police Station intercepted a vehicle near Dhangri Chowk and rescued two bovines from it while the smuggler managed to flee from the spot. Police rescued the animals and seized the vehicle (JK11B 3601) while a case has been registered in this connection at Rajouri Police Station.
