18 cross sides in peace bus despite fidayeen attack on Army camp in Uri

SRINAGAR: Despite fidayeen attack on Army Brigade headquarter in Uri sector yesterday, ten guests from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) arrived here while only three Kashmiris crossed over to other side of the Line of Control (LoC) to meet their relatives, separated in 1947.

Five returnees also crossed sides at the Kaman post, the last Indian post on this side of the LoC in Uri sector, where the fidayeen attack on Army headquarter that left 18 soldiers dead and 19 others wounded. Four Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) militants were also killed in the encounter, which ensued from 0500 hrs yesterday.

The Karvan-e-Aman bus, operating between Srinagar and Muzaffarabad, capital of POK resumed today after remaining suspended last week in view of the Eid-ul-Azha. The weekly cross-LoC bus was the only private transport vehicle to cross the road adjacent to Army headquarter which was attacked by fidayeen.

Official sources told UNI ten residents of POK, including four women and two children arrived at Kaman Post after crossing the Aman Setu, peace bridge on foot this afternoon. (AGENCIES)
