POONCH, Oct 28: following directions of the High court, District administration demolished 18 shops and one Patwarkhana structure, which were constructed on the land of historic Poonch Fort.
Official sources said that these shops were constructed by the Municipality, Army under Sadbhavna and a few by individuals on their own. Allottment of these shops were already cancelled and the administration now demolished these structures.
“This demolition drive has been carried out following directions of the High Court for anti encroachment and mainly for the beautification of the historical Fort, on the land of which these shops and Patwarkhana were constructed,” said an officer.
Deputy Commissioner Poonch Yasin M Choudhary, ADC, ACR, Tehsildar Haveli, Naib Tehsildars, DySP Ops, SHO Poonch and many other officers were on spot monitoring the drive.
