18,887 kanals State land retrieved in Kathua, Kupwara, Ganderbal

JAMMU/SRINAGAR, Jan 20: Acting tough against illegal land encroachers, administration of Kathua, Kupwara and Ganderbal districts conducted anti-encroachments drives in the area under their jurisdiction and retrieved 13883 Kanal, 4021 Kanal and 983 Kanal State/ Kahcharai land, respectively.
Deputy Commissioner Kathua, Rahul Pandey today chaired a meeting of Revenue officers and took detailed review of the ongoing anti-encroachment drives being carried out by the district administration across the district. It was informed that 12751 Kanal State land and 1132 Kanal of Kahcharai land have been retrieved across the district in the ongoing anti-encroachment drives.
The DC also discussed at length the progress made under updating and digitisation of jamabandies, digitisation of cadastral maps, delineation of land records, generation of land passbooks, status of eviction of Roshni land, land acquisition cases, change of land use cases. Thrust was laid on regular monitoring and reporting, besides furnishing action taken reports at the district headquarters.
Over 4021 Kanals of State/Kahcharai land was retrieved in Kupwara district in the anti-encroachment drives conducted on the directions of DC Kupwara Dr Doifode Sagar Dattatray. While 301 Kanals of Kahcharai land was retrieved in Drugmulla tehsil, 280 Kanals of land retrieved in Kupwara tehsil, 712 Kanals of land in Keran tehsil and 1863 Kanals in Vilgam tehsil.
Likewise, 247 Kanals of land were retrieved in Kralpora tehsil, 114 Kanals and 14 Marlas from Dardpora Lolab, 20 Kanals from Chandigam, 20 Kanals from Sogam tehsil, 70 Kanals from Trehgam tehsil, 50 Kanals from Karnah tehsil, 46 Kanals and 15 Marlas from Handwara tehsil, 26 Kanals and 5 Marlas from Zachaldara tehsil, 5 Kanals from Taratpora tehsil, 80 Kanals from Langate, 70 Kanals from Qalamabad tehsil and 116 Kanals from Qaziabad-Kralgund tehsil.
Meanwhile, District Administration Ganderbal today retrieved 983 kanals of State/Kahcharai land across the district. Giving details, the Additional Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal Mehraj-ud-Din Shah said that in the last two days, the district administration has retrieved more than 1701 Kanals of encroached State/ Kahcharai land.
“With these 1701 Kanals, the total retrieved land has increased to 13431 Kanals throughout the district and so far 56 percent of State land and over 47 percent of Kahcharai land has been retrieved during anti-encroachment drives in the district,” he added.
