JAMMU, Apr 5: The Jammu and Kashmir Police in Jammu district have seized 189 vehicles and realized a fine of Rs 30.46 lakh in the first quarter of 2025.
According to Senior Superintendent of Police Jammu, Joginder Singh, special drives were carried out across the district between January 1 and March 31 to check illegal mining.
As part of the crackdown, he said, 189 vehicles were seized, some of which were later released after completing the required formalities.
“The total fine collected from violators during this period stood at Rs 30, 46, 403,” he said.
The police have also registered an FIR against vehicles repeatedly found involved in illegal mining activities, he said.
“We have even started the process to cancel the registration of such habitual offender vehicles,” the SSP said.
The police officer said that the aim of the crackdown is to protect natural resources and take strong action against the mining mafia, which harms the environment and public property.
