19 fresh dengue cases reported

JAMMU, Sept 4: Nineteen fresh cases of dengue have been reported from various parts of Jammu and Kashmir, taking the total number of cases so far this year to 208.

A Health official said that in last 24 hours till 12 midnight of September 3, 10 cases were reported from Jammu district alone while 8 cases were reported from Samba and 1 from Ramban district. The positive patients include 17 adults and 2 children, he added.
He said so far this year, 208 dengue cases have come into notice. “Maximum 121 cases reported so far are from Jammu district followed by Udhampur district with 25 cases, Kathua with 11 cases and Rajouri with 13 cases. Eight cases have also been reported from Udhampur, 5 from Ramban, 4 from Poonch, 3 each from Reasi and Doda and 1 from Kishtwar district,” he added.
The official further informed that 4 cases each have also been reported from Kashmir and other States/UTs. He shared that 65 dengue patients have been admitted to the hospitals till date and of these, 30 have been discharged and an equal number of patients are still under treatment while 4 patients have taken discharge against medical advice.
“The dengue cases are rising with each day,” the official said, and advised that citizens should ensure no stagnation of water in and around their houses as mosquitoes responsible for dengue breed in stagnant water. He said that water filled utensils and tanks should be kept covered and the cooler should be empty two times in a week.
