JAMMU : A new batch of 1,957 pilgrims today left for the holy Shri Amarnath cave shrine in South Kashmir from Yatri Niwas at Bhagwati Nagar base camp in this winter capital of the state.
“The batch comprising 1,412 males, 421 females, 24 children and 100 sadhus left for the Amarnath cave shrine from here in a convoy of 69 vehicles, including 27 State Road Transport Corporation (SRTC) buses, 18 private vehicles and 24 Light Motor Vehicles (LMVs),” an official spokesperson here said.
He said the first bus left at around 0502 hrs and the last at 0527 hrs.
