1993 Mumbai blasts case: SC grants 4 more weeks to Dutt to surrender

NEW DELHI :  The Supreme Court today granted four more weeks to Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt to surrender for serving  three-and-a-half years imprisonment in connection with 1993 Mumbai
serial bomb blasts case.
Dutt, who was awarded five years imprisonment by the apex court, was due to surrender by April 18 (tomorrow), but now he can surrender before May 18.
A bench comprising P Sathasivam and B S Chauhan was earlier told by the counsel for Dutt that he may be granted six months time to complete his seven films as Rs 278 crore of the film industry was at stake.
The apex court refused to grant six months time. However, it agreed to grant one month more to Dutt to surrender.
The actor had already served 18 months out of five years. (AGENCIES)
