JAMMU, Nov 26: First Constitution Day was observed with enthusiasm and zeal.
Constitution Day was observed at Central University Jammu, Rahya-Suchani (Bagla). Jit Singh, Registrar, CUJ read out the preamble to the Constitution on the occasion. He highlighted the significance of the preamble and contribution of Dr BR Ambedkar in the enactment of the constitution. The function was attended by Prof HS Sehgal, Head, Department of Environment Sciences, Dr GK Sehgal, Associate Prof, Department of Environment Science, Shafla Parihar, Deputy Registrar, officers, faculty members, staff and students of the University. Shailender Slathia, Asstt Registrar, Legal Cell, conducted the proceedings of the programme. The vote of thanks was presented by Mohammad Iqbal, Deputy Registrar.
Department of Students Welfare, University of Jammu organized a function to observe 1st Constitution Day at General Rajinder Singh Auditorium of Varsity. Member of J&K State Accountability Commission, Justice JP Singh was the chief guest on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, JP Singh dwelt in detail on the formation of Constitution, constitutional and fundamental rights, social, economic and political justice and liberty. He also gave brief account about the Accountability Commission and replied to questions by students regarding Constitution and accountability.
Vice Chancellor of the Jammu University Prof RD Sharma presented presidential address and threw light on various aspects of the Constitution. Former Member of State Information Commission, Prof SK Sharma also spoke on the occasion.
A large number of students and faculty members of the University were also present.
Earlier, Prof PK Srivastava, Dean Students Welfare, University of Jammu presented the welcome address and in the end, Director, The Law School, of University of Jammu Dr Sanjay Gupta presented vote of thanks.
To observe Constitution Day, Department of Economics, University of Jammu organized one-day seminar on “Society and Economy: Thoughts of Dr BR Ambedkar”. Prof Ashok Aima, Vice Chancellor, Central University of Jammu was the chief guest and Prof Keshav Sharma, Registrar, University of Jammu was the special guest of honour and Prof Rajendra Gupta, Dean Social Sciences was the guest of honour on the occasion. Prof Falendra Sudan, Head of the Department presented the welcome address and gave the overview of the seminar. Prof Ashok Aima listed the thoughts on the basic philosophy of Dr BR Ambedkar, whileas Prof Keshav Sharma, highlighted the role played by Dr Ambedkar in uplifting the down trodden and the economy from the vagaries of social evils like poverty and underdevelopment. Prof Rajendra Gupta stressed on the role played by Dr Ambedkar not only as a social reformer but also as an eminent economist. The inaugural ceremony concluded with vote of thanks presented by Prof Jasbir Singh, Convener of the Seminar. There were twenty two papers presented in three different technical sessions which were chaired by Prof Prakash C Anthral, Prof Dipankar Sengupta and Dr Aroon Sharma respectively. The Co-Chairman of the different sessions were Dr Sunita Sharma and Dr Shallu Sehgal. Each technical session concluded with healthy discussion among the participants, students and faculty members. The seminar concluded with valedictory function with Dean, Faculty Social Sciences, Prof Rajendra Gupta as the chief guest of the occasion. The valedictory function concluded with presentation of seminar report by Prof Prakash C Antahal and vote of thanks by Dr Shallu Sehghal.
Dogra Law College in association with State Legal Service Authority celebrates Law Day in the memory of Dr BR Ambedkar, in which students participated with great enthusiasm. Chairman DLC, Gulchain Singh Charak was the chief guest, whileas Rekha Kapoor, Munsiff, Adnan Sayeed, Sub-Registrar were the guests of honour. Samar Dev Singh Charak, Secretary Dogra Educational Trust also witnessed the programme. Director Law, Prof KL Bhatia threw light on the importance of law, justice, equality, liberty, fraternity and unity and integrity of India in the society. Gulchain Singh Charak in his address also shared his long experiences in the society that how far legal awareness and legal aid can reach at the doors of poor, needy and weaker sections of the society. The programme was organized under the supervision of Etika Gupta and Rupali Subash.
Constitution Day was observed at Ramisht College of Education, Basohli. On this occasion a seminar was organized in which 20 students participated. The students expressed their views on the importance of the day. Chairman of the college Advocate Rajinder Parshad apprised the students that Constitution of India is the supreme law of India and so on this day every school and college student should be taught regarding constitution and Dr BR Ambedkar, who is the architect of constitution.
Chenab College of Education observed Constitution Day. A group discussion on different features/ facts of Indian Constitution was held, in which students took part actively. Principal of the College Kamaldeep Kour also threw light on the importance of the day.
To observe Constitution Day, Sai Shyam College of Education, Ghou-Manhasan organized an inter-school seminar on Bharat Ratna “Dr BR Ambedkar’s Contributions to Fundamental Rights enshrined in The Constitution of India”. In the seminar, students of Government and Private Schools of Marh Block participated and expressed their views regarding Baba Sahab’s contribution. Jagdish Raj Sharma, Principal, GHSS, Ghou-Manhasan was the chief guest, whereas Headmaster, GGHS Gajansoo and Vice-Principal GGHS, Ghou-Manhasan acted as judges. CL Tickoo, Chairman of the College and Dr Usha Tickoo, Principal Sai Shyam College of Education were also present. Nerupna Jamwal from GHSS Ghou-Manhasan, Vishali Jamwal from Sai Shyam Public School, Ghou-Manhasan and Neha from GGHS, Gajansoo were adjudged as first, second and third respectively in senior group, whereas Simran, from Play Way Higher Secondary School, Ponichak, Sahil from Sarvodhya Public School, Santra Morh and Kirti from GGHS Ghou-Manhasan were adjudged as first, second and third respectively in junior group. Two consolation prizes went to Prince Sharma of New Generation Public School, Bhadrore and Kajal Bassan of GGHS, Ghou-Manhasan. Certificates of participation were distributed amongst all the participants.
Government Degree College Samba organized a symposium on the occasion of Constitution Day, in which 8 students spoke over the tenets and scope of Indian constitution. The competition was judged by Dr MS Pathania, Prof Kamal Jeet Singh and Prof Anupma Kumari. Ronia Devi, Pawan Kumar and Balwinder Kour emerged winners. The event was chaired by Principal Dr Romesh Chander and co-chaired by Dr Sandhya Rani, Convenor Literary committee.
To observe Constitution Day, Government Girdari Lal Dogra Memorial Degree College, Hiranagar organised a symposium and quiz competitions in the college premises. Dr Naresh Kumar Gupta, Principal of the college was the chief Guest. A seminar on the topic “Constitution and our duties was held in which various participants delivered their speeches and Shikha Mehra, Meenu Sharma and Priyanka Verma were adjudged winners. In the quiz competition Team C led by Priyanka Verma, team D led by mehak Verma and team B led by Jyoti Sharma claimed top three ranks respectively. The jury comprised of Prof Daya Vilas, Prof Vijay Kumar Chandan and Prof Rakesh Sharma. The vote of thanks was presented by Prof Parvinder Kour.
GDC Bishnah observed Constitution Day by conducting a seminar on the topic “The Role of students in Creating Awareness about the preamble of Indian Constitution amongst the citizens particularly students”. Dr Alka Sharma, Convener, Debate and Fine Arts Committee, presented welcome address. The chief guest was Dr Kuldip Raj Sharma, Principal of the college. In the seminar, six students participated and highlighted the various aspects of the Indian Constitution. Dr Kuldip Raj Sharma deliberated on the topic and encouraged the students to create constitutional literacy and awareness in the society.
Department of Political Science, Government PG College, Rajouri organized a symposium to observe Constitution Day. The symposium was organized under the supervision of Amit Bhalla. He presented welcome address, followed by Power Point Presentation highlighting the events leading to the making of Indian Constitution. Dr MK Waqar also expressed his views about various aspects of the constitution. The students who spoke on the occasion include Sushant Sharma, Ikhlaq Ahmed, Ahlam Mir, Ilyas Choudhary, Aman Zutshi and others. Principal of the College Prof Shabir Hussain Shah also spoke about the constitution structure.
Government Higher Secondary School, Budhi observed Constitution Day. Ravinder Singh Andotra, Lecturer in Education interacted with students and elaborated the features of the Constitution of India. Preamble to the constitution was read by Satish Chandel, Senior Lecturer in Physics. Daram Paul, Lecturer in Hindi gave a brief description about the fundamental rights. Others who spoke were Lecturers Pankaj Sharma and Veena Sharma. Speaking on the occasion, Principal Naresh Sharma threw light on the importance of the day.
Tehsil Legal Services Authority, observed National Law Day at Government Degree College. Principal District and session Judge Poonch Tahir Khursheed Raina was the chief guest, whileas Principal of the College Javed Ahmed Qazi presiding over the function and SDM Mendhar Thakur Sher Singh was guest of honour. The programme was conducted under the chairmanship of Wajahat Qazmi Munsiff, Judicial Magistrate First Class Mendhar. Bar President BH Khan, bar members, officers of Tehsil Administration Mendhar, prominent citizens and students of the college also participated in the function. Many speakers spoke on the occasion and discussed the importance and relevance of National Law Day in justice delivery system.
Salal Power Station observed Constitution Day. On the occasion, A Shanmugam read out the preamble of the constitution. Employees of Salal Power Station were present.
A programme on the occasion of Law Day was organized in the Vaid Higher Secondary School Railway Road, Vijaypur under the chairmanship of ML Manhas, Chairman, District Legal Services Authority, Principal District and Sessions Judge, Samba in collaboration with Chairman Tehsil Legal Services Committee Ritesh Kumar Dubey. Chairman, TLSC Samba apprised students about the importance of the day as well as the laws. Nisha Rani Advocate (Retainer Lawyer), Samiksha Vaid and Ashish Sharma also spoke on the occasion. Shashi Vaid, Principal of the School, students and staff members also participated in the function.
