1st Elbow replacement surgery conducted in Fortis Hospital Amritsar

JAMMU, Nov 19: Fortis Escorts Hospital, Amritsar conducted 1st ever Elbow replacement surgery in its premises on a middle aged woman.
As per an official statement issued by Fortis Escorts Hospital, Amritsar, a woman patient had got her right elbow fractured in the year 2006 and operated for it in a hospital in the same year but fixation failed.
The patient was again operated for fixation of the fracture in the year 2007 and 2009 in different hospitals, but she could not recover. Due to repeated failed surgeries, she was suffering with severe pain and could not even move her arm.
The woman, who had lost every hope of her recovery, was brought by her family members at Fortis Escorts Hospital, Amritsar in October this year. The doctors at Fortis Escorts Hospital examined her elbow and found that the screw used in earlier surgery was lying loose and had damaged distal humeral bone.
Thereafter, the patient was taken up for elbow replacement by Dr Mohit Arora, Senior Consultant and now the patient is doing good with painless elbow, and can do full movement of her elbow.
