“Militancy is dying. Mouthpiece of Pakistan and ISI wants to keep it alive. However, we are examining and investigating the threats issued from different blogs by different militant outfits and are taking action,” the DGP told reporters on the sidelines of a function here.
Asserting that there is no need to worry from the threats, Dilbag said this has become daily conspiracy of the elements who don’t digest peace and prosperity in Jammu and Kashmir.
“Remaining such organizations will be crushed,” he added.
On militant attacks in Punjab and whether there was Pakistani hand in it, the police chief said Jammu and Kashmir and Punjab Police are working in coordination with each other.
He said drone threat is being dealt with effectively.
Dilbag said that this year 56 foreign militants were killed and the figure is largest in the past several years while as out of the 109 new militants, 86 were killed and just 23 are surviving.
He also said that number of both foreign as well as local militants active in the hinterland has been brought to just two digits only.
Dilbag said that this year security forces achieved a major success against militancy.
“This year 56 foreign militants were killed and the figure is largest if compared to past several years,” he said.
He added that out of the “109 new militants”, 86 were killed in various encounters while only 23 are remaining who are on the radar of police and will be killed shortly.
Asked about the number of active militants in J&K, the DGP said that the number of foreigners’ as well as locals has been brought down to just two digits. “Militancy is on its death bed in J&K…..” he said.
The DGP said that life of new militant recruits is very short
To a query about the number of militants ready to sneak in at the launch pads across the LoC, he said that there are a few militants who may be pushed into this side before the heavy snowfall.
“But the counter infiltration grid is alert to foil all such bids,” he said, adding that the number of militants at the launch pads keeps on fluctuating.
About security arrangements in Jammu in view of last year’s attack bids, he said all measures are in place to foil any “nefarious plans.”
“Our security grid is keeping a tight vigil,” he said.
