2 Al-Badr militants trapped

Srinagar, Dec 25: Two soldiers were injured as two Al-Badr militants were trapped by security forces in South Kashmir’s Shopian district today.
Police said that a joint operation was launched by police, Army’s 44 RR and CRPF on specific information about the presence of militants in Kanigam village in Imam Sahib area of Shopian.
Two soldiers were injured in the encounter that broke out after militants fired at the troops during the search operation.
The initial exchange took place in nearby orchards of the village and during initial exchange militants managed to run towards the residential houses.
All entry and exits points have been sealed and lights installed in the area, so that militants don’t flee from the spot.
Meanwhile, as a precautionary measure, internet services have been snapped in Shopian district.
Meanwhile, police in Awantipora today arrested one militant associate and recovered explosive material from his possession.
Police said that on a specific input, Awantipora Police along with 42RR and 180Bn CRPF conducted search of a residential house of Amir Ashraf Khan in village Syedabad Tral.
During the search, one Chinese hand grenade concealed in a plastic jar was recovered from the premises of the house.
He has been arrested and shifted to Police Station Tral where he remains in custody.
Police registered a case (FIR number 109/2020) at Police Station Tral and further investigation into the matter is in progress.
