UDHAMPUR, Mar 3: Udhampur Police recovered contraband cannabis from a truck at Jakhani Naka point on the National Highway, here today.
Driver of the truck, identified as Farooq Ahmed Karchoo, son of Ghulam Ahmed Karchoo of Nai Basti, Anantnag and his associate Nazir Ahmed son of Ghulam Hassan Khan of Mattan, Anantnag were arrested on the spot.
According to the police report a party from Udhampur Police Station at Jakhani Chowk, recovered 1.5 kg of Charas packed in a plastic bag from the truck, bearing registration number JK02U- 2856, was intercepted by a Police party from PS Udhampur and 1.5 kg cannabis, packed in a plastic bag was recovered during the checking.
In this regard, a case FIR No. 85/2022, under section 8/15 NDPS Act has been registered in PS Udhampur and further investigation is underway.
