2 baratis killed, 20 hurt

RAJOURI/ SAMBA, Sept 22: Two members of a marriage party were killed while 20 others injured after a mini-bus carrying them overturned on the road near Keri about 17 kms short of Rajouri this evening.
The mishap took place at around 7.45 pm when the vehicle, bearing registration No. JK-11/1339 was on its way to  Dhangri from Jhangar in Nowshera. When it reached near Keri, the driver lost control at a curve and the vehicle turned turtle  on the road side. Two members including 7-year old girl were thrown out and got crushed under the vehicle and died on the spot.
They were identified as Divya (7), daughter of  Mahesh Kumar, resident of Jammu and Ankush, son of Ashok Kumar of  Jhangar. All the injured were removed to district hospital Rajouri.  They were said to be out of danger. Some  of them were discharged after providing treatment in hospital. The police has taken cognizance of the matter.
Meanwhile, a youth was killed after he was intercepted at a Jatwal naka by police in Ghagwal area tonight. The eyewitnesses said that a bike rider was intercepted by police on the National Highway at Jatwal at around 9 pm. He could not balance his bike being in speed and was hit against the steel railing raised by cops on highway and fell down on the road. With serious head injuries, he was rushed to Samba hospital where he was declared as dead. His identity could not be established immediately.
In yet another road mishap, a truck driver was killed near Bus Stand in Samba tonight. Identified as Nihal Singh, a cleaner of the truck, he was trying to cross the road. A speeding unknown vehicle hit him on highway and disappeared.  He died on the spot. His body was shifted to Samba hospital by police. Samba police registered a case and started search for the unknown vehicle.
