JAMMU, June 13: Two Block Development Council (BDC) Chairpersons and at least 35 Sarpanchs from Chenani, Latti and Dudu area of Udhampur led by District Development Council Member, Chenani Usha Devi lodged protest as even after the construction of 40 years, road from Man Talai to Latti and Dudu could not be blacktopped till date.
These public representatives of this remote belt of district Udhampur, today assembled at Latti Tehsil headquarters and lodged symbolic protest after a meeting, against the Government for the total neglect of this remote area. They pointed out that this road from Mantalai to Latti was declared opened for traffic in 1978 and up to Dudu in 1981 but since then, this road was never black topped by the concerned authorities.
They further pointed out that during previous BJP-PDP Government, the Central Government sanctioned Rs 52 crore project for the upgradation and blacktopping of this 45 kms road in 2017 but it is unfortunate that during last three and half years of time, not even 2 kms road has been completed. The work has been abandoned by the agencies. They said recently DC Udhampur Indu Kanwal Chib paid visit to the area and assured to restore work on the road. She has also set deadline to launch work by June 20 but the contractor was still adamant. They demanded the intervention of Lt Governor into the matter.
BDC Chairman Chenani, Parkash Chander and BDC Chairman Latti, Darshan Kumar also spoke on the occasion.
