2 bootleggers arrested, 300 kg lahan destroyed

JAMMU, July 5: Excise Department today arrested two bootleggers with four bottles of illicit liquor and destroyed about 300 kg of lahan during raids at various locations in Bishnah and RS Pura areas.
The raids were conducted by an excise team led by ETO South Range, Rohit Sharma, along with Inspector Ritesh Gupta and Sub Inspectors, Parshant Mathur and Vikas Khajuria, under the supervision of Deputy Excise Commissioner (Executive) Jammu, Syed Muried Hussain Shah, on the directions of Excise Commi-ssioner, Mohd Javed Khan.
During the course of raids, two persons namely Poli Devi wife of Baldev Raj and Raj Rani wife of late Tilak Raj, both residents of Tarachak, were arrested and booked under Section 48 of J&K Excise Act after four bottles of illicit liquor were recovered from their possession.
Besides this, about 300 kg of lahan and 8 bottles of illicit liquor made from lahan, which is highly hazardous and injurious for health, were recovered by the raiding team from the State land and destroyed on the spot.
