SAMBA, June 15: In continuation to its ongoing strict measures to thwart conspiracies of bovine smugglers, District Police Samba foiled attempt to smuggle bovines by arresting two bovine smugglers and rescuing two bovines in the jurisdiction of Police Station Samba.
Acting on reliable information, regarding smuggling of bovines towards Kashmir via Basanter route, a police party of PP Supwal laid a strong naka near Nanka chak Basanter bed and intercepted a load carrier vehicle without registration number.
During checking of the said vehicle, two cattle were found laden inside the vehicle without any permission. The accused driver identified as Mohd. Rashid S/o Lal Hussain R/o Rakh Barotian, Vijaypur. Both the cattle rescued and shifted to safer place. The vehicle used for transporting the bovines was seized on spot.
Police team has also arrested his associate namely Mohd. Hanief S/o Mohd. Yousaf R/o Rakh Barotian, Vijaypur who was acting as guide and a motocycle bearing Regd. No. JK21F 4995 was also seized.
In this regard, a case FIR No. 150/2020 U/S 188 IPC, 11 PCA Act stands registered at P/S Samba and investigation taken up.
