UDHAMPUR, Dec 18: Police today arrested two bovine smugglers and seized twenty one milch animals.
Police spokesman said that, during routine checking at Chenani, police intercepted one Alto car without registration number.
During questioning, two occupants of the car Mashkoor Ahmed, son of Mohd Shafi of Ramban and Abdul Rashid, son of Marid Baskh of Raper Samba disclosed that they are guiding a truck carrying bovine animals to Valley, he added.
After that, police party noticed the said truck bearing registration number JK14A- 5797 trying to rush back to Udhampur, he said, adding, that on seeing police party, the driver speed up the vehicle and later met with an accident at Samroli.
The occupants of truck namely Mushtaq Ahmed and Mohd Mian managed to flee from the spot, while, police recovered 21 milch animals out of which 13 were alive and 8 were dead.
A case under FIR number 129/12 under Section 188 RPC has been registered at Police Station Chenani and investigation started.
