POONCH, May 2: Two children, both brother and sister, drowned in a `nallah’ in Surankote area of district Poonch today.
A police spokesman giving details said that both the victims namely, Shakeela Kouser (5) and Aqib Dar (4), children of Mohd Rafi Dar, residents of Booni Khet (Surankote) had gone to the house of their maternal grandfather (Nana) along with their parents to attend a marriage function.
These children during noon, escaped to nearby nallah along with some locality children to take bath and drowned. The other children narrated the matter to their relatives and parents and they rushed to the spot. The police party was informed by the villager and the cops also reached shortly.
The bodies of the children were fished out later and shifted to Surankote hospital. After postmortem, the bodies were handed over to the family for last rites. The occasion of pleasure and jubilation, unfortunately turned into a sad and painful affair with the two deaths. The police, however, registered a case and started investigation.
