BARAMULLA, Oct 31: Sixth day of Bhand Pather show series being organized by Natrang with the support of Sangeet Natak Akademi witnessed two hard hitting contemporary satires through the powerful traditional performances devised in new style of effective presentation.
The first show of the day ‘Gaash Roodh Folnai’ written and directed by Ghulam Hassan Betaab and presented by Bumai Bhand Theatre was staged at Wakoora, Ganderbal whereas the second show ‘Daagi Jigar’ written by Mohd. Khalil Bhat, directed by Manzoor-ul-Hassan and presented by Bumai Luk Theatre was staged at Chinad, Baramulla.
Today’s first play ‘Gaash Roodh Folnai’ remarkably brought forth the discrimination being faced by the poor Kashmiris through the hands of influential class of powerful people. They divide others in the name of religion, communities, classes, color and creed but for their personal gains they are always together.
Those who participated in the play ‘Gaash Roodh Folnai’ included Ghulam Hassan Betaab, Mohd. Ashraf Bhat, Nazir Ahmed, Javed Ahmed, Ashraf Ahmed, Abdul Ghani Bhat, Abdul Rehmaan Bhat, Abdul Khaliq Bhat, Gul Mohammad, Ghulam Mohammad Bhat, Ghulam Nabi Bhat, Mushtaq Ahmed Ghanai and Ghulam Mohammad Ghanai.
Second play of the day ‘Daagi Jigar’ advocated entirely for safeguarding the crafts and artisans of Kashmir. With the growing fashion of the usage of machines, the traditional weavers, craftsmen, and artisans have been left to lurch and are forced to shift to other professions. The machine made artifacts have snatched their livelihood. Bhand perfomers have in an intelligent manner highlight this grave problem of Kashmir which is related to the very cultural identity of Kashmiris.
The artists who participated in the play ‘Daagi Jigar’ included Mohd. Khalil Bhat, Abdul Ahad Bhat, Mohammad Bilawar Bhat, Ghulam Mohammad Bhat, Ghulam Mohi-ud-Din, Manzoor Ahmed, Gul Mohammad, Abdul Khaliq, Fayaz Ahmed, Ghulam Rasool, Abdul Hamid and Manzoor Ahmed. Both the shows were coordinated by Manzoor-Ul-Haq, Shah-E-Jahan Ahmed Bhagat and Mohd. Yaseen.
