JAMMU, Oct 12: Central University of Jammu (CUJ) has organized a two -day `Book Exhibition 2023′ at the campus from today.
CUJ Vice-Chancellor, Prof Sanjeev Jain inaugurated the exhibition, which is being conducted under the guidance of Prof B S Bhau, Library Incharge and assisted by Assistant Librarian, Ramesh Chander. The main purpose of organizing the book exhibition is to strengthen the collection of the University’s library with new titles in the allied fields.
In the exhibition, 10 publishers of national and international reputation have participated, including M/s Pearson, Narosa, Tata McGraw Hill, PHI, NCBA and S Chand. The exhibition has hosted 15 bookstalls having more than 15000 books with past three years publications (2020, 2021 & 2022). The books are mostly focused on management and its allied subjects. It also included books in English and Hindi literature, Humanities, biographies of eminent personalities in all walks of life, and literature on Jammu & Kashmir UT.
The exhibition aims to promote the culture of a reading habit among students and instill a love for reading that will last a lifetime for students, faculty members, and staff. This exhibition also facilitates publishers to showcase new and classic book collections to inculcate the reading habit and provide an opportunity to faculty members to recommend books related to the curriculum and new research areas to facilitate building up a rich collection of prestigious publications for Central University of Jammu, Library.
The students got introduced to new topics and the premium publication of top-notch publishing houses which was a great experience for all of them. Many faculty members of the University visited the exhibition. They included Prof Kusum Kumari, Prof Bharat Bhushan Sharma, Dr Abhay Kumar Singh, Dr Ajay Kumar, Dr Umesh Kumar Yadav, Dr Tanuj Teswal, Dr Ratnesh K Yadav, Dr Vjinder Singh, Dr Vandhana Sharma and Dr Ashish Kumar. The office and the technical staff of the library helped in organization of the book exhibition.
