2-day conference on ‘emerging trends in engineering technology’ concludes

JAMMU, Mar 16: The two day 6th National Conference and Exhibition on “Emerging and Innovative trends in Engineering Technology” (6th NCEEITET) organized by Government College of Engineering and Technology (GCET) in collaboration with IIT Kharagpur concluded today at GCET Campus, Chak Bhalwal.
The conference was aimed to provide a common platform to exchange innovative ideas and knowledge between the academicians, students, researchers and industry to serve the society in a better way.
Two day programme of the conference comprised of invited talks, plenary talks from eminent personalities from research and industry. Further, it consisted of technical sessions for the contributed paper presentations from the participants. In addition to this, workshops and display of exhibits by CPSUs/PSUs were also lime light of the event.
A total of 70 papers were received for publication from all over the country out of which 43 were accepted for publication in the Conference Proceedings after peer reviewing and as well published by the online International Journal of Science and Technical Advancements (IJSTA) globally accessible by all with effect from March 16, 2019 onwards.
The prize distribution/Award ceremony started with the welcome address by Dr.Sameru Sharma, Principal, GCET.
Advisor to Governor, Khurshid Ahmad Ganai, who was the chief guest, emphasized upon the defining role of engineers in the present era of global technological development, reiterating the need for engineer students to harness their skilled proficiency in terms of entrepreneurship building mechanisms.
Lauding the role of various CPSUs/PSUs in the development of the country, he stressed upon developing an interface between the engineering institutions, researchers and industry professionals to boost the capabilities of the aspiring engineers to the maximum utility and their exploration and experience to become enterprising as job providers.
He further asserted upon the continuous improvement in the engineering education by adopting new methodology, different resources and the new material in creating new technologies/ innovations.
Talat Parvez Rohella, Secretary, Higher Education Department and Prof. R.K. Ganjoo, Director College Development Council, University of Jammu and Dr. Yaseen Ahmad, Director Colleges, Higher Education were the guests of honour.
The eminent speakers Prof S.S. Pathak, IIT Kharagpur, Zahoor Ahmed Chat, Rodic Consultants, Anil Kumar Sharma, Tata Power, K.R. Suri, Ex-GM PGCIL, P.K. Nanda, GVR Infra Projects delivered the invited talks and lectures to the participants throwing lights on diverse aspects of the emerging technological advancements throughout the globe and their social relevance with special emphasis on the ongoing schemes and projects in J&K State.
The ceremony ended with a formal vote of thanks presented by Dr. Yaseen Ahmad, Director Colleges, Higher Education Department.
