2-day Dogri Literary Conference begins

JAMMU, Sept 28: Two- day Dogri Literary Conference, jointly organized by Sahitya Akademi, New Dehli and J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages, began here today at Abhinav Theatre, Jammu.
Padamshree Prof Ved Kumari Ghai, eminent Dogri, Hindi and Sanskrit Scholar, writer and critic, presided over the inaugural function while Dr Om Goswami, senior Dogri and Hindi writer, was the chief guest. Dr O P Vidyarthi, Director, Ecology, Environment and Remote Sensing J&K and Dogri writer, presented key note address. Darshan Darshi, Convenor, Dogri Advisory Board, Sahitya Akademi, New Dehli, Devender Diwesh, OSD, Sahitya Akademi, New Dehli and Dr Arvinder Singh Amn, Additional Secretary, J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages were also present in the presidium.
Prof Ved Kumari Ghai, in her presidential address, said that when writer community of respective areas shows concern with pollution and stands in support of environment through their writings, reflects the awareness amongst the population of the respective region.
While speaking about the theme, ‘Dogri Sahitya Ch Paryavaran Chetna’, she further said that Dogri poets, writers and thinkers focussed on raising the issue of pollution and tried to find out the solutions through their writings. She emphasized that Dogri folk, for decades and centuries, has projected environment in an effective manner.
Dr O P Vidyarthi also highlighted the causes of pollution and said that Dogri poets, writers and intellectuals louded their voice supporting environment.
Darshan Darshi spoke about the theme ‘Dogri Sahitya Ch Paryavachan Chetna’ defining the environment and need of protection in detail.
Dr Om Goswami presented inaugural address, Devender Diwesh conducted proceedings while Dr Arvinder Singh Amn presented vote of thanks.
In the first paper reading session, N D Jamwal, presided while Dhian Singh presented research paper on the topic’Dogri Lok Geetien Ch Paryavaran Chetna and Prof Shiv Nirmohi presented his paper on the topic Duggar Sanskriti Ch Paryavaran Chetna. Desh Bandhu Dogra Nutan presented paper on Dogri Katha Ch Paryavaran Chetna.
In the 2nd session, Mohan Singh, national awardee Dogri writer presided while Dr Gian Singh presented his research paper on the topic ”Chhand Badd Kavita Te Kaviya Ch Paryavaran Chetna’ and Vijay Verma presented his paper on the topic “ Bandmukat Kavita Te Gazlein Ch Paryavaran Chetna”. Dr Nirmal Vinod presented his research paper on the topic “Geetien Ch Paryavaran Chetna”.
