JAMMU, Jan 17: Organized by Regional Outreach Bureau (ROB), Jammu and Kashmir region, a two-day ‘Third North Zone Conference’ of Media units of the Union Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) at Jammu today.
The Conference aims to give a unique platform to the officers of the Indian Information Service working under different Media Units to converge at a zonal level where they can discuss and deliberate upon the emerging areas of the evolving communication paradigms.
In his opening remarks, Joint Secretary (P&A), MIB, Vikram Sahay impressed upon the Indian Information Service Officers of different media units to work in coordination and effectively promote programmes and policies of the Government of India on ground. Sahay also took a review of the publicity activities of the media units of North Zone and stressed the need for better physical infrastructure including interconnectivity amongst offices.
In his address, Director General, Bureau of Outreach and Communication, Satyendra Prakash impressed upon the officers of all the media units of MIB to chalk out a strategy to collectively work towards better dissemination of valid and accurate information.
Director General, Press Information Bureau (Home Affairs), Vasudha Gupta while speaking on the session ‘filling up gaps of information’ said it was the responsibility of the officials of the MIB to find factual information to do away with gaps in information.
In the first technical session during the first day of the conference, various sessions were held ranging from zero budget publicity and people centric publicity to the performances and activities planned in the North Zone of MIB.
Satyendra Prakash made a detailed presentation on Zero Budget Publicity and People Centric Publicity and Additional Director General, PIB and ROB, J&K Region, Jaideep Bhatnagar and Additional Director General, ROB and PIB Chandigarh, Devpreet Singh represented the previous performances and activities planned for 2020 for the PIB and ROB units of J&K, Ladakh and Chandigarh.
Atul Tiwari, Additional Director General, All India Radio, New Delhi during the second technical session gave a detailed presentation on the coordination between Prasar Bharti, PIB and Bureau of Outreach and Communication (BOC) for the dissemination of information of various schemes of the Government of India.
Pragya Paliwal gave a detailed presentation on the best practices in PIB and ROBs whereas Madhunag, ADG, BOC gave a presentation on ‘Monitoring through Dashboard feedback’.
Earlier in his welcome address, Jaideep Bhatnagar, ADG, PIB and ROB (J&K region) said that this two day conference will give us a chance to review and reflect on the work that the media units of the north zone have been doing and it is an opportunity to meet officers and deliberate upon different issues pertaining to the units.
The participating states in the conference are UT of J&K, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab and Delhi.
