2-day summer meet will give boost to dairy sector in J&K: Rupala

Srinagar, June 2: The Union Minister of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry, and Dairying, Purshotam Rupala, today said that the two-day summer meet for the animal husbandry and dairying sectors would provide a substantial boost to the industry in Jammu and Kashmir.
Speaking on the concluding day of the event, which was organized under the aegis of Azadi Kaa Amrit Mahotsav by the Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Government of India, in collaboration with the Agriculture Production Department, Government of Jammu and Kashmir, Minister Rupala expressed his optimism about the dairy sector’s growth in the Valley.
He said holding meet of this magnitude in Srinagar served as a significant milestone in the advancement of the industry, emphasizing the government’s commitment to its growth and development. “The central government, in coordination with state administrations, is actively engaged in the development of the dairy sector and assessing the progress of central schemes in the valley. The summit provided a platform for farmers to share their advice and concerns,” Minister Rupala said.
He further revealed that ministers from approximately 14 states participated in the meeting, while senior officials represented states whose ministers could not attend. “The discussions allowed participants to address challenges, share their achievements, and exchange ideas,” he said.
Rupala highlighted the need to improve dairy farming in line with the directives of Prime Minister, Narendra Modi. “Extensive deliberations and detailed discussions took place during the summit, allowing participants to contribute their perspectives,” he said.
Speaking on the recent G20 Summit, Rupala praised the people of Kashmir for creating an environment that countered the misinformation about the valley. He credited the Jammu and Kashmir administrations, particularly Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, for their commendable efforts in projecting an image of peace and harmony to the world, thereby reestablishing Kashmir’s reputation as a paradise on earth.
