Srinagar, Sept 13: The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), in collaboration with the Department of Community Medicine, Government Medical College (GMC) Srinagar, organized a 2-day regional workshop from September 12-13.
The workshop was part of the multi-centric ICMR task force study assessing unmet needs and access to assistive technologies among the general population using the digital rATA tool – a cross-sectional survey in India.
The event, held at GMC Srinagar, was attended by an ICMR team led by Dr. Ravinder Singh, Senior Scientist, along with Dr. Salaj Rana and Dr. Geeta Rani, Scientist-C. Participants included principal investigators, co-principal investigators, and technical staff from northern sites such as Institute of Medical Sciences Banaras Hindu University, VMMC & Safdarjung Hospital, New Delhi, Bhagat Phool Singh Government Medical College for Women, Sonepat, and Government Medical College, Srinagar.
The workshop was inaugurated by Prof. Iffat Hassan, Principal/Dean of GMC Srinagar, who praised the initiative to assess assistive technology needs.
She highlighted the importance of ensuring that assistive technologies are available to all who require them.
Dr. Ashoo Grover, Scientist-G and Head of the Delivery Research Division at ICMR, delivered a lecture online, while resource persons from ICMR New Delhi and representatives from the participating institutions, including VMMC Safdarjung Hospital, IMS BHU, BPS GMCW Sonepat, and GMC Srinagar, engaged in group discussions and hands-on training sessions.
