TRAL, Aug 23: Tragedy struck a hamlet in Tral town of South Kashmir when a woman and her 16-year-old daughter were killed while four other members of the family were injured as the roof of their house caved in after incessant rains in the area.
Police said that following heavy rainfall, the roof of the two storey house collapsed in wee hours today in Zadihar killing 38-year-old Zareena and her daughter Bilquees Akhtar.
The head of the family Mohammad Yousuf and other family members including his 13-year-old daughter Zamrooda, 8-year-old daughter Shakeela Bano and 11-year-old son Ashiq Hussain were injured.
The injured were taken to a nearby hospital where the mother-daughter, duo were declared dead, the officials said. A road was washed away in flash floods caused by a cloudburst in Tral town early this week but no loss of lives was reported.
