JAMMU, Oct 30: Two office bearers of the District Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (DGPC), Jammu were removed after ‘no confidence motion’ was moved against them and new members were elected by the Committee.
Talking to media-persons here today, State Gurdwara Parbandhak Board Chairman TS Wazir said that in a special meeting of the DGPC Jammu held here, eight members out of 11 participated wherein, two new office bearers were elected, after the no confidence motion was moved against the two office bearers- Avtar Singh Khalsa –Secretary and Manmohan Singh- Treasurer of the DGPC, Jammu.
DGPC member, Fateh Singh was unanimously elected as Secretary while Darbinder Singh as Treasurer of DGPC Jammu.
He disclosed that action was taken by the DGPC Jammu against two office members, after they were allegedly found involved in mismanagement and mis-appropriation of funds. There are also allegations against them that they were acting in an arbitrary manner without even consulting the President DGPC Jammu. When asked to tender resignation on moral grounds, they refused to do so. Therefore, the Committee with majority members, passed ‘no confidence motion’ against them and sacked the both.
Wazir said the nine elected members of DGPC Jammu including Jathedar Mohinder Singh, under the leadership of President DGPC Jammu S Jagjit Singh met the Deputy Commissioner Jammu who after through scrutiny put the resolution for voting which was unanimously supported by all the members present there. The new office bearers Fateh Singh and Darbinder Singh were elected at their place. The other elected members also accompanied Mr Wazir during the conference.
