2 die of COVID, 9 students test +ve in Kashmir

157 fresh cases in J&K, 9 in Ladakh

JAMMU/SRINAGAR/LEH, Mar 23: Two persons died of COVID-19 and 157 tested positive including 105 in Kashmir and 52 in Jammu while 81 other recovered from the virus today.
Out of 52 persons tested positive for the virus in Jammu, 39 fresh cases were reported in Jammu district, five Kathua, three Udhampur, two each Rajouri and Samba and one in Reasi district.
Four districts in the region didn’t report any COVID cases today.
Eleven persons recovered from the virus in Jammu region including eight in Jammu and three in Udhampur district.
Jammu region now has 52455 Corona cases. Of them, 331 are active positives as 51391 have recovered from the virus and there have been 732 casualties in the region.
Among the casualties, the highest 379 have been recorded in Jammu district followed by 64 in Doda, 57 Udhampur, 55 Rajouri, 53 Kathua, 41 Samba, 24 Poonch, 22 Kishtwar, 21 Ramban and 16 in Reasi districts.
In Kashmir, 105 people tested positive for COVID-19 while two persons died.
And a school in Budgam district was closed for five days after nine students tested positive today.
At least nine students tested COVID-19 positive at the Government Higher Secondary School in Hardapanzoo area of Khansahib in Central Kashmir’s Budgam district today. The administration immediately ordered for the closure of the school for five days and testing of staff and students.
Two persons died of COVID-19 in Kashmir today taking the death toll in J&K to 1983 with 1251 in Valley.
Those who tested positive for COVID-19 in Kashmir are 56 from Srinagar, Baramulla 23, Budgam 14, Pulwama 3, Kupwara 3, Anantnag 3, Bandipora 1, Kulgam 2.
Moreover, 81 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and were discharged from various hospitals including 70 from Kashmir division.
Meanwhile, nine new cases of COVID-19 were today reported in Leh district of the UT of Ladakh.
The UT now has 90 active positive cases.
