2 dozen hospitalized after consuming yellow rice

Srinagar, Apr 1: Nearly 2 dozen people-mostly children-were today hospitalized after they consumed yellow rice commonly known as Tahri in the Zagipora Charar-i-sharief area of Budgam.
Officials said that so far, 24 persons from the Village Zagipora of Charar-i-sharief have been received with a history of falling sick soon after consuming Tahri.
They said that it is a fine case of food poisoning while the patients who have been taken to SDH Budgam and some of them have been shifted to SMHS hospital and G.B. Panth Hospital in Srinagar
“Among them, 15 have been shifted to SMHS and GB Panth hospital for further treatment where their condition is being monitored,” the officials said.
The necessary sample collection of the food item which has been consumed by the children is being carried out while the staff has been put on alert even as further investigation into the matter is being carried out.
