REASI, July 29: In two tragic incidents reported from Arnas area of district Reasi, a young girl and a boy have drowned in Chenab river.
“In the first incident, Jameela Bano (20), daughter of Abdul Rashid, resident of Surukote, Danod Panchayat in Arnas, slipped into the river Chenab while cutting grass for cattle and drowned,” police said.
The misjap took place when Jameela, along with some other girls, had gone to a hill for fetching green grass for the cattle. She lost her balance and fell into the river. The search operation for her body was going on.
In a separate incident, Amreek Singh (15), son of the Late Shangaar Singh, resident of Karka Judda B, Tehsil Arnas,, also drowned in the river Chenab. Amreek attended a cremation near his village and subsequently went to the river for bath where he drowned. Efforts are being made to recover his body.
