2 drug peddlers arrested, 18 gm heroin seized

UDHAMPUR, May 20: Continuing its offensive against the spread of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances, Udhampur Police today arrested two more drug peddlers from Jakhani Chowk and seized 18 gms of heroin (chitta) from their possession.
Giving details, SSP Udhampur, Rajiv Pandey said that the accused were apprehended during a naka checking by a Police party, led by SHO Udhampur Vijay Singh Choudhary, under the supervision of Dr Rohit Chadgal, DySP Hqrs Udhampur and Rajinder Kumar Katoch, Addl SP Udhampur. 18 gms of heroin (chitta) was recovered from their possession and the same was seized on the spot.
The arrested accused were identified as Shakeel Ahmed of Jakhani and Tariq of Banihal. In this connection, a case FIR number 236/2019 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Udhampur.
Meanwhile, Police Station Ramnagar has arrested one absconder namely Suram Singh of Nagrota Juggroo, District Kathua, who was evading his arrest for the last more than 25 years. The accused was involved in case FIR number 135/1992, under section 510 RPC, registered at Ramnagar Police Station.
