KATHUA, Nov 5: In its success against drug peddlers, Kathua police has seized a huge quantity of drugs substance including the 10,000 capsule and 4860 bottles of Corex today.
This was disclosed by SSP Kathua, Shailendra Misra while talking to reporters here.
He said Police Station Lakhanpur during naka checking stopped a vehicle bearing Registration No. PB05Y-5243 and during checking, it was found that vehicle was laden with huge consignment of contraband like substance which was being transported from Punjab towards Jammu Via Lakhanpur.

Misra said during checking, 4860 bottles of “WINCIREX” Cough Syrup and 10080 intoxicating capsule were recovered from the vehicle. SSP Kathua said that the Intoxicating capsules stealthily hidden under the sacks of oranges were found laden in the vehicle. The vehicle was driven by Angrez Singh, S/o Balbinder Singh of Guru Harsahi Tehsil Jalalabad district Ferozpur, Punjab and his associate namely Raj Kumar, S/o Chandu Ram R/o Guru Harsahi Tehsil Jalalabad district Ferozpur Punjab. Both the accused were arrested and vehicle involved was also seized by the police.
He said that the accused has already made some successful attempts to smuggle the drug substances to Kashmir as revealed by him during preliminary investigations. He said that police team is working to find out the other people involved in drug trafficking.
On this a case FIR No. 100/2020 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act stands registered at Police Station Lakhanpur against the arrested persons and the investigation is under process.
The naka was laid by police team headed by SHO Lakhanpur, Sanjeev Chib.
SSP said Kathua police is striving hard and taking every possible step to make people especially youth aware to eradicate drug menace.
