REASI, July 15: Continuing the drive against drug abuse, District Police Reasi today apprehended two narcotic smugglers and seized heroin like substance from their possession.
According to Police, during routine naka duty near Sulla, one Swift Dizre car bearing registration number JK20A- 5889. which was on way from Katra towards Reasi, was signaled to stop for checking purpose.
On this, driver of the car tried to flee away but was overpowered by I/C Naka Sulla along with other Police officials. During checking, 2.17 gram heroin like substance was recovered from the driver, who was identified as Vishal, son of Balwant Singh, resident of Sonrain, Tehsil Pouni, A/P Nai Basti Reasi.
Police arrested the accused and seized the car as well as the heroin. A case FIR number 148/2023, under section 8/21/22 NDPS Act has been registered in this connection at Police Station Reasi.
Another drug peddler was apprehended at from New Bus stand, Katra, who was coming on foot from Grand Sharan Hotel side towards Masjid Chowk. During checking, four grams of heroin like substance was recovered from possession of the accused, identified as Manik Dogra, son of Bodh Raj, resident of Ward number 6, Katra District Reasi.
A case FIR number 219/2023, under section 8/21/22/NDPS Act has been registered in this connection at Police Station Katra.
