2 drug peddlers arrested with over 1000 kgs poppy straw

RAMBAN/JAMMU, Dec 2: Banihal and Panjtirthi police arrested two drug peddlers with over 1000 kilograms of poppy straw.
As per police sources, on specific information, a team from Banihal Police Station laid a naka at Gund Tethar and intercepted a truck bearing registration number HR45A-4346.
During checking, police team recovered 1000 kilograms of poppy straw and arrested the driver, who has been identified as Nirmal Singh, son of Thel Singh of Ludhiana Punjab.
A case under FIR Number 147/19 under section 8/15 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Banihal and investigation started.
Police team led by SHO Banihal Inspector Abid Bukhari and assisted by Incharge Jawahar Tunnel Police Post SI Waseem Mehraj made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO Banihal Sajjad Sarwer, Additional SP Ramban Sanjay Parihar and SSP Ramban Anita Sharma.
Meanwhile, a team from Police Post Panjtirthi led by SI Vinod Kumar intercepted a vehicle and recovered 21 kilograms of poppy straw from two bags.
The owner of the bags identified as Mohammad Nadeem, son of Babu of Mohalla Madini Basti Malar Kotla District Sangroor Punjab.
A case under FIR Number 198/19 under section 8/15 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Pacca Danga and investigation initiated.
